Taiyuan Long Distance Bus Station

Plan your Shanxi Tour? Many travelers would choose Taiyuan, the capital city of Taiyuan as a springboard to visit Pingyao, Qikou or Mount Wutai and loads more attractions in Shanxi.

Basically people would take highspeed trains or overnight trains to Taiyuan, then connect long-distance buses to its neighboring destinations.

So how many long-distance bus stations in Taiyuan, what are the differences among these bus stations and how to get to these long-distance stations from Taiyuan Railway Station.  Please follow up my blog to get these answers.

There are major 4 long-distance bus stations in Taiyuan, namely,  Taiyuan Long-distance Bus Station (长途汽车站), Jiannan Bus Station (建南汽车站), Taiyuan West Coach Station (太原汽车客运西站）and Taiyuan East oach Station (太原汽车客运东站).

1. Taiyuan Long-distance Bus Station (太原汽车站)
Taiyuan Long-distance Bus Station is just a 500m walk along Yingze Avenue from Taiyuan Railway Station, on the southern sidewalk of the longest street of Yingze in Taiyuan.

The buses from Taiyuan Bus Station travel to Beijing, Datong, Shanghai, Xian and Zhengzhou.

Beijing: Seven hours, three times a day ( 8:30am, 10:30am and 2:30pm )

Datong: 3 and half hours, every 20 minutes ( from 6:40am to 7:00pm )

Xian: 8 hours, five daily from 8:00am to 6:00pm.

2.  Jiannan Bus Station (建南汽车站)

Jiannan Bus Station is located about 3km south of Taiyuan Railway Station.

The coaches from Jiannan Bus Station will go to Pingyao, Qiao Family, Qixian,  Pingyao, Jiexiu and Jincheng.

Pingyao: 2 hours, half-hourly from 6:00am to 7:30pm

Qixian: 2 hours, half-hourly from 7:30am to 7:30pm

Jiexiu: 2 and half hours, half-hourly from 7:30am to 7:30pm

3.  Taiyuan West Coach Station （太原汽车客运西站）

Taiyuan West Coach Station is located on Yingze Avenue 10km to the east of Tianyuan Railway Station. Take Bus No.01, 06 from Taiyuan Railway Station, you will get to Taiyuan West Coach Station.

The buses from Taiyuan West Coach Station will go to Qikou, Lishi.

Qikou: 4 hours, one daily 10:30am

Lishi: 2 hours, hourly from 7:00am to 7:30pm

Lishi – Qikou: one hour, frequent  7:00am to 7:30pm

4.  Taiyuan East coach Station 太原汽车客运东站

Taiyuan East Coach is located about 3.5 km to the east of Taiyuan Railway Station. Take bus 619 from Taiyuan East coach Station to Taiyuan Railway Station.

The buses from the ancient city are goinng to Mount Wutai.

 Mount Wutai: 4 hours, hourly from 6:40am to 6:30pm
