My transit at Xian on Oct 23, 2007
| I took the 8pm flight - CA 1205 from Beijing to Xian. My colleage, Mr Richard Jye had helped me in doing the online check by accessing www.airchina.com.cn and printed the boarding pass per my request before I got to Beijing Capital Airport. The world is really flat! Flight booking and checking at your finger's tip at home or office! It took one and haf hour's fight from Beijing to Xian. It was raining in Xian. Mr. Chen from Tianma Travel Agency came to the Xian Xianyang International Aiport and transferred me to my hotel in Xian - Xian Meloday Hotel. It is a 3 star hotel with super location, near Bell Tower and Drum Tower. Some of the rooms offer internet bandwidth, US$ 3 per pay.
On the way from the airport to the downtown Xian, especially when we entered the western gate of the Xian City Wall, I was surprised by the newly renovated West Street of Xian. It is completely new! It is rebuilt after the Tang Dynasty in the 7th century when Xian, as the capital city of Tang Dynasty reached its height. The new building makes Xian more Chinese in terms of its city construction. I suggest putting the visit to the West Street on our Xian travel itineraries prepared for our clients in future. I just have a few hours' transit in Xian. Tommorrow I will escort a 17 pax tour group from Romania. The Xian-Lhasa flight starts at 9:00am. So I have to get up early and start from our hotel at 6:30am. My hotel or the downtown Xian is about 45km from the Airport. A few days ago I met the tour leader - Ms Bianca in Beijing. She was glad that I would join them to visit Lhasa. It will be a first time for me to go to Lhasa. Lhasa is about 4000 meters above the sea-level. Some friends told me to buy some medicines. They suggested Rhodiola, a kind of meidical herb peticular in the Qinghai-Tibet Highland. It is proved that it can help increase the tolerance of anoxia, fatigue and rediation, delay ageing process, and regulate the immunity. I did take the medicine yesterday and today, I'm feeling better. It is said that it would be better to take the medicine one or two days before we go to some highland. Lhasa, for me, is a mysterious land, far away from me. It is still like a dream that tommorrow I will fly for Lhasa and touch its land! Hope the 3-hour flight tommorrow will be safe and smooth |
