My Trip to Chengde ( First Night )

After having a short rest in my own room at Puning Temple Hotel, I go on the streets to familiarize myself with the layout of Chengde city. The city of Chendge is not big and easy to recognize the directions. The famous Mountain Resort is situated in the north of the city. The main road from north to south is called Nanyingzi Road. Xidajie ( Western Road ) and Dongdajie ( Eastern Road ) are the two main streets running from east to west. The Chengde downtown area is on the west of a river basin on the west bank of the Wulie River, surrounded by the Yunshan mountain range. The road along the Wulie River from north to south is called Wulie Road. Another east-west important road is named Xinhua Road. Under the local government's guideline of "One Year, a big step for Chendge and Great Change for Chenge in three years!", Chengde is changing day by day. Highrises and commercial buildings are everywere. Some areas are under construction, making the city a bit dusty. The local tourism is not good this year, but still I find some western tourists, who stay at Yunshan Hotel. Yunshan Hotel is one of the favorite hotels for foreigners coming to Chengde. It is located on the west bank of Wulie River. I make a walking tour of the main streets in Chengde. For dinner, I follow some western toursits into the riverside restaurant along the Wulie River, just across Yunshan Hotel. They offer yummy dim sum and night food.
