Beijing Bird Watching in Temple of Heaven
After seeing the national flag raising ceremony on the early morning of May 24, 2008, I drove to the east entrance to the park of Temple of Heaven. I like the early morning of Temple of Heaven. The park in early morning is full of life - birds singing, local old people doing exercises and fresh air. The park ( Temple of Heaven) is open at 6:00am daily mainly for early "birds" for morning exercises. I got to the east gate at 5:40am. So I had to wait for a while. Later I learned to know that the official opening of Temple of Heaven is 8 am daily. So if you want to visit the main attrations in the park like Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests(Qiniandian), the Hall of Imperial Zenity (Huangqiandian), the Circular Mound (Huanqiu) the Imperial Vault of Heaven (Huangqiongyu), you are supposed to wait till 8:00am. The entrance fee visiting Temple of Heaven is RMB 35. The two hours between 6:00am and 8:00am are prepared for the locals doing morning exercises. For the entrance to the park or the two hours, you pay RMB 15. But almost all the old people coming here for the early two hours have monthly tickets - RMB 15 per month!
People were waiting outside the east gate to Temple of Heaven and it is open at 6:00am for people doing morning exercises, two hours earlier than the official opening time.
When I entered the park, a lively magpie by the main road.
Then she flew to the top of a pine tree in fornt of me.
