April 9, 2008. Today' highlight was to visit Emei Shan ( Mt. Emei ). From our hotel - Huasheng Hotel in Emeishan City to the new entrance to Mt. Emei is about 30Km. We started from our hotel in Mount Emei at 8:30. So we soon arrived at the main gate to Mt. Mount. Three years before I had visited Mt. Emei. But that time I hadn't got to the top of the mountain. We only had visited Wannian Temple located halfway up the mountain. In the temple stands a huge exquisite copper statue of Sarnantabhadra built in the Song Dynasty. Last time we had climbed up the mountain through its old gate. Now this time we entered the famous buddhist mountain through its gorgeous new gate. We first changed for a 22-seat smaller coach and drove about one and half hours along the mountain road from the new gate to the cable car station. From the cable car station on the top, we walked about 10 minutes we got to the golden summit - the top of Mt. Emei.

Mount. Emei is one of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains in China. The Mt.Emei is where Samantabhadra stays, known in China as Puxian. It is 3,099m above sea-level. Mt. Emei has been listed a World Heritage Site due to its breathtaking scenery, mysterious natural wonders, and historical Buddhist sites. The full day's hike to the top of the mountain is an experience taken by many, but minibuses and cable cars make you climb faster to the summit if you are short on time.

The dinner tonight was interesting. We had tasted over 13 kinds of snacks. Chengdu is an ideal place both for Sichuan food and snacks. Since our group didn't like hot food, we arranged the special snacks for the dinner as a kind of experience for the group. I had deliberately chosen a centrally located hotel for the group in the shoppping area since our people loved shopping very much. Prime Hotel Jinza is on No.8 Zongfu Road, Chengdu. Nearby there are a huge number of shopping mall of various kinds. It is also handy to many restaurants.
