Zhongyang Street
It is my third time walking on the famous pedestrian street in Harbin - Zhongyang Street. The 1450-meter long street runs from the north
to the south. I start from its northen tip - the Songhua River Flood Monument, and walk down to the its southern end - Jingwei Street.
Harbin Gloria Plaza Hotel is located just next to the the Songhua River Flood Monument while Harbin Holiday Inn City Center Hotel is just located opposit the southern end of Zhongyang Street. So you stay at one of the two hotels, you are easy for the walk along the well known street.
Now Zhongyang Dajie has become a unique European-style pedestrian street, long lines of edifices, masses of entertainment areas, and colorful cultural life. 13 city-level protected buildings assemble here and 71 European-style and simulated European-style buildings on the street.
All of these buildings are in various styles including renaissance style, baroque style, eclectic style, as well as modern style. The small street contains the most influencing four architecture genres, covers the most charming literature phylogeny of 300 years, and reflects the profound history of architecture, a real “Architecture Art Gallery” in China.
