Beijing Badaling National Forest Park
Badaling National Forest Park is located at an altitude slightly higher than other Beijing attractions and is well known for the red leaves festival that takes place there. Beijing Badaling National Forest Park covers 56 hectares, and is planted with more than 50,000 maple trees.
The Red Leaves Hill scenic area at the Badaling National Forest Park is 500 m higher above sea level than what's average for the downtown Beijing area. Moreover, because of the cooling effect provided by the dense forest and the surrounding Great Wall, Red Leaves Hill will be the first place to watch for leaves turning a reddish hue in early autumn.
The duration of Red Leaves Festival at Badaling Forest Park is usually about 2 weeks long. The best time for viewing the festival is from September 28 to the 25th of October.
