President Yuan Shikai’s Office
This is located at 3 Zhang Zizhong Road in Dongcheng District. It was the premier’s office during the Beiyang government in 1919 and was the site of the Duan Qirui government. It has been included on Beijing’s list of cultural sites under the title “The former location of the Duan Qirui Government.” A workplace now occupies Yuan Shikai’s office.
Yuan Shikai (1859-1916) was from Xiangcheng County in Henan Province. He was a military commander, governor of ZHILI Province and minister of Beiyang during the late Qing Dynasty and the first president of the Republic of China.
