Wen Tianxiang Memorial Temple
Wen Tianxiang Memorial Temple is located at 63 Fuxue Hutong in Dongcheng District. Wen Tianxiang (1236-83), a native of Luling in present-day Ji’an in Jinagxi Province, was a national hero and prime minister during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279).
He wrote the poem Zhengqige (Song of Righeousness), which ends with the two famous lines: “Since olden days, which man has lived and not died? I’ll leave a loyalist name in history!” the Prime Minister Wen Memorial is located on the site where Wen was imprisoned.
