Yang Jiaoshan Memorial Temple
Yang Jiaoshan’s Former Home is located at 12 Dazhiqiao Hutong outside Xuanwumen in Xuanwu District. Yang Jiaoshan was originally called Yang Jisheng. A native of Rongcheng in Hebei Province, he was a successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations during the Ming Dynasty and was Vice Minister of War.
Prime Minister Yan Song had Yang Jiaoshan imprisoned because Yang staunchly advocated fighting the nomadic invaders and accused the prime minister of corruption.
Later accused the prime minister of corruption. Later Yang was executed at Xishi. During the reign of the Qing Emperor Qianlong, the main room of Yang’s home was converted into a memorial temple, called Jingxian Tang.
This temple late became SongzhuAn (Pine and Bamboo Hut) and is now public housing.
