Beijing Miyun Reservior
Located in Miyun County, eighty kilometres northeast of downtown Beijing, The Miyun Reservoir is one of Beijing's main sources of potable water.
It was built in September,1960, and is the largest reservoir in Beijing area. Two main rivers, Chaohe and Baihe, flow into Miyun Reservoir. The catchment is about 15,788 km2, consists of mountains and piedmonts and lacks large industrial enterprises. Sediments and nutrients from agricultural, pastoral and forestry lands that enter the reservoir with overland flow make the main pollution sources.
The panoramic surrounding as well as the peaceful atmosphere around Miyun Reservoir has attracted thousands of visitors as at the same time enable it to be one of the most attractive scenic areas of Eastern Beijing.
Standing on the tourist deck of the reservoir, you will be able to see the broad view of the reservoir, various types of building architecture around the shores, mountains and fishing boats. You will suddenly feel that everything looks small in your eyes.
