Baoguo Monastery
Located on the north of Guang’anmennei Avenue in Xuanwu District, Baoguo Monastery was founded in the Liao Dynasty, which is a thousand-year-old ancient temple.
The temple, with seven rows of houses, was one of the famous temples in the capital city of Beijing during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Vairochana Tower, 36 stairs in height, in particular, is the most magnificent one.
Climbing to the top, one can view palaces, the Western Hills and Lugou Bridge in the capital city of Beijng. They were burned down by the Eight Allied Forces in 1900. The four extant halls still retain their imposing appearance in those years.
Existing temples include the imperial tablet set up in the 2nd etic tablet of Baguo Monastery rebuilt in the 21st year during the reign of Emperor Qianlong.
