Dajue Monastery
Among a group of peaks in Beijing’s Western Hills, there is one looking like a recumbent lion named Yangtai Hill, ancient Dajue Monastery well known in the capital city of Beijing stands on the east slope of the hill.
The monastery faces east. Entering the entrance gate from the east through the stone bridge, one can reach in proper order Tianwang Hall, Mahavira Hall, Amitayue Hill, Great Mercy Altar through to Sarira Pagoda built on the hillside.
Built on both sides of main halls are commandment Altar as well as the south and north Magolia gardens and Siyi Hall which were built upon the order of the royal family of the Qing Dynasty.
The wonderful view and rare objects honored as the “Six Uniqueness of Dajue” i.e., thousand-year-old ancient stone tablet, Longtan which collects the inflow of clear water, the ginkgo whose trunk is so thick that needs six people to get their arms around, the white magnolia planted 400 years ago, Baota pine and the pond cut with huge rocks as crystal as jade.
