Fuyou Temple
Situated on the east side of the north end of Beichang Streeto of Xicheng District, this temple was built during the reign of Emperor Shizong of the Qing Dynasty.
The temple faces south. The gate o the outer enclosure wall, situated in the southwest corner, faces west. On the axial line, from south to north, are a screen wall, decorated archway, entrance gate, Bell and Drum towers, Tianwang Hall, Mahavira Hall and back hall.
The horizontal boards over the decorated archway and the main hall bear the calligraphy of Emperor Yongzheng. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China 1949, the office of the Panchen Lama’s representative in Beijing was set up in this temple.
