Longquan Monastery, sitting at the foot of Laoye Mounatain in Niegezhuang Township of Haidian District on the western outskirts of Bijing, has a history of a thousand years.
It is located at the low ridge of a hill, its front faces a mountain stream, above which is a single-span arch bridge. The monastery is arranged in the form of sihuyuan-a courtyard with houses on four sides, with three compounds standing in a row from west to east.
The west compound is the main compound which consists of fan entrance hall, a main hall and side halls in the east and west. The main hall is a three-bay house, covering 77sq m. exquisite murals are drawn on the walls of the hall.
High and steep mountain stands by the side of the temple, beneath the west cliff of the temple is a mountain spring which gurgles down from the mouth of a stone carved dragon head, putting Longquan in the best situation in those years. Unfortunately, the water level has declined in recent years, and spring water has dried up.
