Zhenjue Temple
The temple is located outside Xizhi Gate in downtown Beijing. The Changhe River, with ancient willows on both banks, flows from northwest to southeast through the city. The banks of the river witnessed busy religious activities during the 15-19 centuries in Beijing.
This temple was founded in the Yongle reign (1403-1424) of Emperor Chengzu of the Ming Dynasty, and renamed Grand Zhengjue Temple in 1761.
The main structure is the Diamond Throne Pagoda, built in 1473. It is one of only ten pagodas built in this style in China. Four of them are in Beijing, the other three being at Biyun Temple, Xihuang Temple an Miaogao Temple.
