A great hotel with a Western feel. It is located approxi 400 meters to the east of the East Gate of Temple of Heaven (walking distance to the temple of Heaven).
The staff is very friendly, helpful and speak good English and. Breakfast is all right with a mix of western and Chinese enough to fill you up for one day sightseeing.Free wifi/ethernet internet with moderate speed is available for free with decent speeds. HBO/CNN Asia/BBC World are available, so there is something to watch by default as well. Grocery store down the street.

2. Days Inn Forbidden City (北京香江戴斯酒店)
The hotel is superly located next to Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City and Wangfujing Street and close to 2 subway stations: Wangfujing and Tiananmen East. Nanwanzi hutong (lane) is not very popular among the taxi drivers, but Nanheyan street where the alley is well known.
The services provided by the staff are good. The staff can speak English are quite helpful. The beds are a little hard like most of Chinese hotels. Free Internet in the room helps a lot. Make sure you always bring the card from the hotel showing the hotel’s address in Chinese character.
The room is cleaned up everyday. Not too many stores nearby, but there is a store that is opened till late.

The location of the hotel is super for those who want to visit the Forbidden city and Tianamen Square, both are within a ten minute walk.
The night market and Wangfujing are also very close by. The staff at the front desk are always helpful, informative, and willing to try to speak English with you.Rooms are clean, comfortable and the surrounding is all right. Very good western and chinese breakfast buffet. Free internet is very nice. The only drawback is the water flow in the shower.

5. Tianrui Beijing (天瑞酒店)
This hotel has a good location, a good value for the price.it is located in an authentic little hutong (narrow) with fruit sellers, shops and restaurants close to the front door. You can easily walk to Wangfujing, the Forbidden City, and Tienanmen Square.
The room is very big for Chinese, clean and nicely decorated. The staff is friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast is plain but ok. Free Wi-Fi in the lobby is quite useful. A very good choice for travellers who want a clean and comfortable place to stay in Beijing.

Only a short taxi ride to Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. Make sure you have the location of the hotel in Chinese as it is a bit difficult to for some taxi drivers to find. The standard room is very clean, pretty and comfortable.
The bathroom is modern and clean. The large flat screen TV and computer with free internet are an added delight. The hotel has a courtyard surrounding full of greenery, very calm and peaceful.

How to buy a ticket for the high speed bejing shanghai train
Hello Shaji,
Basically, it is very easy, just go to Beijing South Railway Station and buy your ticket at the ticketing offices by cash. So be ready for some amount of cash. As far as I know, they don’t accept cash unless you use the automatic ticket selling machines which are a bit difficult for you to handle.
Avoid traveling during Chinese national holiday ( May 1 -3, and Oct 1 – 7) when you must book your train tickets in advance. Normally, you don’t need to book your ticket upfront since there are 44 daily high-speed trains running from Beijing to Shanghai. You will arrive at Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station.
