Plan your Beijing night tour? There are some interesting night places worth your visiting in Beijing either for shopping or night view photography. Last time I wrote a blog post tiltled ” Top 10 Things to Do in Beijing at Night“, which may be of some help for you to find a favorite night hangout.
Among the top 10 night places, The Place ( 世贸天阶 in Chinese ) has been one of my favorite ones to spend for about 10 minutes. Why only 10 minutes? Well, I’m not passionate about its luxury shopping and upscale gourmet experience. Instead, its huge rooptop TV screen could always catch my heart for a while, and I do enjoy high technique, lighting and the space art accompanied by music. The Place is said designed by Jeremy Railton, who is also the designer for the world largest electric screen in Las Vegas in the States.
The sky TV screen is 250m long and 30m wide, the second largest after the one in Las Vegas in the States. But in terms of technique, Beijing’s The Place has the No.1 led screen in the world, much advanced than its competitor in Las Vegas. The Place’s huge led screen is nicknamed “All Beijing look up” simply because visitors have to look up at the magic screen showing different themes of videos.
The Place is open 365 days every year. Opening hours: 10:00 – 22:00. Below is the opening time for the huge TV screen:
Winter Time: 17:00 – 22:00 ( every half hour ); Summer Time: 19:30 – 23:00 (every half hour )
How to get there
1. Subway Line 1 : Take subway line 1 and get off at the station of Yonganli (永安里), exit from the exit B, then walk for about 10 minutes, you will get to The Place.
2. Subway Line 10: Take subway 10 and get off at the station of Jintaixizhao (金台夕照) and exit from Exit A and walk to the west for about 10 minutes, you will reach The Place.
A few days ago I went there and shot some pictures of the Place and its huge rooftop screen.
The east-west huge screen is flanked by two luxury buildings and people walk around and look up under the rooftop screen.
Just walking under its west end of the TV screen
The huge rooftop screen, the size of a football playground, now a fun night place for visitors.
People just stand in awe gaping up a 100 feet overhead at the football size screen.
Just watching the local Chinese visitors enjoy themselves under the massive space is a fun to feel.
You may also consider a different evening out, having coffee or dinner by the window in the restaurants, listening to the Jazz music, and look at the show above you.
At the east end of the screen, you will see a large flower basket decorated with horse toys and illuminated red lanterns.
Any questions, just drop a line.
