If you are planning your Beijing toursin autumn, you may consider to include a side trip to Hongluo Temple and Hongluo Mountain, which are not far from Mutianyu Great Wall. Hongluo Temple (Red Sheninglls Temple) is located at the south foot of Hongluo Moutain in the north of Huairou District in Beijing. The temple was first built in 338 AD in Eastern Jin (317–420). It was rebuilt many times in later dynasties.
Hongluo Temple was once the largest buddhist temple in northern China. Now the temple has no monks and has been turned into a resort – Hongluo Temple and Hongluo Mountain Resort which is favored by a great number of local holiday makers.
Basically I’m quite enthusiastic about fall foliage. Last Sunday we visited the Honglup Mountains to feel the autumn atmosphere around Hongluo temple. You may walk step by step along a mountain road or take a slide (toboggan ) to the middle of the moutain. From its middle road, you can climb further up to the Hongluo Mountain Summit.
Take a slide up to the middle of Hongluo Mountains
We got off at the slide station in the middle on the foot of the village and continue to climb up.
The temple and Hongluo Mountains have become a holiday resort with many family coming up down.
