Greetings from Malaysia
I will be going holiday to Beijing in November with family starting from 21 November till 27 November 2013. My children would like to know, by that time does snow drop in Beijing.
Hello Mira,
Nobody could tell whether it will snow or not by that time. But basically it is a bit early for a snowfall in Beijing. At the end of the November, some ski resorts are open. So you may bring your kid to a ski resort to see the snow and play the snow though the snow is man-made.
hai,
im going to beijing end of this november with my family. i just want to know the weather on that time and can you list me the thing that we should bring during winter time. thank you..
Hello ZafiraFira,
The end of November starts the winter time in Beijing. The temperature is around -4℃ at night and 6℃ at noon, a fairly big temperature drop between day and night. Be ready for normal winter jacket ( not necessary heavy winter jacket ). Beijing is very dry in winter. So if there is little wind, the feeling temperature will be a bit higher than the actual temperature. Drink more water against the dry weather. Fortunately, from November 15 each year, the whole city will start up the indoor heating. So you will feel very warm indoor ( hotels, apartments, public indoor places, airports, train stations…).
Have a good time in Beijing!
Just a few question here.My friends and i will be travelling to beijing from the 1st of november till the 9th.May i know what is the average temperature and must we bring a proper winter clothing?
Hello Elle,
The Beijing’s temperature from the 1st of november till the 9th is around 3℃ (night ) and 14℃ ( day ). You’d better bring your jacket and sweater.
Hi, i would like to know whether on the weather in beijing..?! Dec 5-13 .. wil it snow..?!
Hello Andrew,
It is really a bit difficult to predict whether it will snow or not during Dec 5-13. The temperature from Dec 5 to Dec 13 is about -4℃ to 5℃ according the historical climate data about Beijing. Please wear warmly outdoor.
I plan to travel to Beijing in between Nov 17 to Nov 30. I plan to stay at courtyard hotels around Hutong area. Do the hotels have indoor heating and carpets? Also what are the good places to visit during winter? I don’t like the cold
Hello Jane,
Beijing’s obligatory indoor heating starts from Nov.15 each year. Normally you will definitely have indoor heating at your hotel or courtyard hotel.
As for carpets, basically all the hotels above 3 star have carpets. As for courtyard hotels, we are not quite sure, just asking them or checking their websites.
The time between Nov 17 to Nov 30 is just the beginning of Beijing’s winter, not much winter activities going, maybe some suburban ski resorts are on a trial operation, little possibility of snowing. Mostly you just visit the city in a normal way, touring the highlights and enjoying the local food, and drinking at bars. Just keep in mind that some attractions are closed earlier in a day because days are becoming short, well planning your travel schedule.

Hi,
Planning to visit Beijing and Badaling Late Nov / Early December this year. After seeing nice images of Great wall at Badaling with snow, my wife wants to visit it on snow. Would it be a prefer time to get snowing experience at Badaling (early / mid Dec).
Also once I walked on frozen lake in front of summer palace, could it be possible to get that experience if I visit on December.
What would be the dress you recommend.
Thanks,
Thar
Dear Thar,
Thanks for your inquiry!
It is really hard to predict the snowing in December. Basically it rarely snows in Beijing in winter. But hope you are lucky enough to see snow in this December.
As for the skating on Kunming Lake in Summer Palace, the actual opening date for skating depends on the weather condition, the colder the earlier date. Basically it will be open to the public for skating at the end of December.
Have a nice time in Beijing!
