Untill Feb 6, 2014, there had been no significant rain drop nor snowfall in the past consective 107 days for most of Beijing area (downtown Beijing in particular). Though there was scattered snow in some regions on Jan 04,2014, the snow was too small to be felt by people.
Today Beijing sees its first significant snowfall starting at March 07, 2014. It is a long expected snowfall though the snow fall comes too late, which will cause much trouble to holiday makers on their routes who are heading back to their working units and farewell to their family reunions.
No rain nor snow for the past 107 days, the dry city of Beijing has serously affected the local people’ life: more dry weather related diseases, dry face and more. Of course, the snow will add much difficulty to those on their return journey after Spring Festival.
Today the weathermen predict that the snow will come down around 2:00am. So now I’m excited to wait for the first snowflakes falling in Beijing.
Around 2:00am, I put on my down jacket, leaving my warm appartment and go down using the elevator, trying to catch the snowflakes flying and dancing in the air. But I fail to find any snow. Disappointed, I have to go to bed for the possible early morning snow.
Wake up at 5:45, I quickly get up and put on my winter down jacket and go down by elevator with my iphone. Wow! What a white snow world! It is still snowing, as if white sands pouring from the sky to the ground, blanketing the dirty with facinating white thin silk.
The pictures below shot with my iphones of the surrounding area in my community between 5:54am and 6:11am.
