  1. Are there storage lockers at Hongqiao airport? We need to leave our bags there while on a short trip to Xi’An. Thanks.

  2. Yes, sure. On the first floor theree is a storage lockers offering pay service for those who need to store their bags or suitcases.

  3. We 4 of the same family are flying from CCU/HND/CCU by MU 556, MU 5811 /Mu 537 and on return by MU 538 ,MU 748 / MU 555.. We suppose our checked in baggages shall be tagged appropriately so that we needno carry the same whenever change of Aircraft is involved at the different Airports i.e. at KMG /SHA and on return at SHA / PVG /KMG. We shall be with the Hand Baggage /Cabin Baggage. Please confirm
(ii). For the upward journey there is alay over time at SHA for 18 Hours 45 Minitues and on return lap for 23 Hours 30 Minutes at KMG is there is any arrangements made by the Airlines for accommodation for the transiting passangers at the Airport itself or elsewhere. Thanks & Regards
I shall very much appreciate if you please mail me your answer / reply.

  4. Basically, your checked baggage will be handled and arranged by the same airlines. You needn’t carry your checked baggage. Normally airlines will not arrange your accommodations during your layover. Some airports have hourly hotels.

  5. We have booked a flight from Tokyo to Beijing.
We arrive from Tokyo to Terminal 1 (MU 538) and depart to Beijing from Terminal 2 (MU 5123), both on China Eastern Airlines.
Q1 How do we get from T1 to T2?? Cost??
Q2 Will our checked luggage be forwarded to T2.
Q3 We have 2.5 hours. Is this enough time??
    Thanks

  6. Hello Gail Robson,

    1. You may take the free shuttle buses from T1 to T2 ( 3km, about 2 minutes)
    2. Basically, you have to go through customs at T1. As for your luggage to be automatically forwarded to T2 and on to Beijing flight on the same airline, please check with China Eastern Airlines.
    3. 2.5 hours for going through customs and transfer to T2 from T1, and check-in at the counter of T2, is a bit tight, but you can manage it if your flight is on time. Try to have China Eastern Airlines forward your baggage on to the next flight for Beijing automatically and have your air tickets checked upfront. Have a good transfer!

  7. On 29 July 2013,we (4 adults) will leave Singapore for China by air, check-in Shanghai Crusie Treminal same day to board Ship “Star Gemini”, departure 8 pm sharp.
In view of above, please advice/recommend as follows:

Which is peferred airline available from Singapore to China Shanghai ?.
Recommended time of arrival in China Shanghai Airport?
Which is peferred Terminal to disembark in China Shanghai ?
What is distance from prefered airport terminal to cruise terminal ?.
We will leave Shanghai on 29 June 2013 and will return on 2 July 2013. What would you recomend during our stay from 2nd till 8th July 2013.

  8. Hello Teo Lyethiam,

    1. Flight from Singapore to Shanghai
Please check the web for more information: http://english.ctrip.com/

    2. Recommended time of arrival in China Shanghai Airport
It is better to arrive in Shanghai before 2:00pm in order to connect your 6:00pm cruise.

    3. Peferred Terminal to disembark in China Shanghai
Shanghai has two airports – Pudong airport and Hongqiao airport. It makes no difference as which terminal to disembark. You shoulld know which airport you are going to land.

    4. Distance from prefered airport terminal to cruise terminal

    Please check:

  9. My flight will be coming in from Jingdezhen to Hongqiao at about 10pm. How hard will it be to get a taxi that time of night? Where is the taxi area? Any tips on how to get a taxi and not wind up paying too much?

  10. Hello Byran,

As far as I know, the taxis in Hongqiao are available 24 hours a day. You don’t have to tip your taxi driver. But you have to pay extra due to the night drive which will be automatically added up to your meter. Have a good transfer!

  11. Could you please advise me, What is the cost of an economy flight, air ticket from Xian to Shanghai for adult (over 65 yrs) leaving Xian in the morning of 18th October,2013. There will be 4 adult,( Senior citizens) traveling. Thankyou!

  12. Hi Daniel,
we must catch the flight to Sanya MU5347 China Eastern Airlines @ 7:30am from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. I believe it’s in TERMINAL 2.
The earliest schedule from Loushanguan Rd Station is 05:50am
    > Hongqiao T2 6.05.
We have maximum 1H 20mins to do the luggage registration and boarding.
Would be enough or it’s wise to come a little bit earlier?
    Thanks for your feedback
    Xiexie Ny 🙂

  13. Hello Tom,

The max time of 1H 20mins is just enough to do the luggage registration and boarding for a domestic flight. Have a journey!

  14. Hi Daniel,
thx! I have been told the stop station line 2 T2 is quite far from the Airport itself.
Do you know how far and how long does it take approximatively to go there?
    Many thx
    Best Regards

  15. Hello Tom,

Not very far, but the T2 subway station is very large. It is also the station for Subway line 10. It takes about 20 minutes. Just for your reference.

  16. We are a group arriving into T2 from Changsha at 6.30 pm. We want to take the high speed train to Jiaxing. What time does the last train leave Hongqiao railway station?

  17. Hello Charles C,

Sorry for our delayed answer! The last highspeed train is G7329 leaving Shanghai at 21:31. Have a good trip!

  18. I am travelling to Tokyo from Dhaka(on 30 march 2014) and Tokyo to Dhaka (on 7th April 2014).

    30 MAR 23:45.

My flight will be next dat at 9:05 to Tokyo from Terminal 1.

    1) How long it will take to get out from the immigration clearance with a 24 hours transit visa and luggage from the belt at Hongqiao airport?
    2) May I get a a hotel during that time midnight past 1 am in the morning near the airport?
    3) How can I go to the hotel? Is there any taxi/bus service in that time?
    2) Which hotel do you suggest? I need to come to terminal 1 very early in the morning.
    3) What is the distance from Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 ? what is the mode of transportation to transfer?

    Will appreciate your help.

    Best regards

  19. Hello Apon Ahsan,

    1) How long it will take to get out from the immigration clearance with a 24 hours transit visa and luggage from the belt at Hongqiao airport?
Normally it takes one or one and half hours.

    2) May I get a a hotel during that time midnight past 1 am in the morning near the airport?
We suggest you book a hotel room at Hong Gang Hotel which is just next to the Terminal 1 of Hong Qiao Airport ( see http://www.hg-hotel.com/en/hotel_info.htm)

    3) How can I go to the hotel? Is there any taxi/bus service in that time?
Hong Gang Hotel is just next to Terminal 1. Though the distance from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 is only about 3km, you have to take a taxi from Terminal 2 to Hong Gang Hotel (Terminal 1 ) since the free shuttle bus service between T2 and T1 is not available due to the late hours.

    4) Which hotel do you suggest? I need to come to terminal 1 very early in the morning.
We suggest you stay at Hong Gang Hotel where you can easily walk to Terminal 1. More imformation on Hong Gang Hotel: http://www.hg-hotel.com/en/hotel_info.htm

    5) What is the distance from Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 ? what is the mode of transportation to transfer?
Only about 3km. Free shuttle bus between 06:00 and 22:30. So you have to take a taxi.

You are advised to contact Hong Gang Hotel for your airport transfer. Have a good layover in Shanghai!

  20. We are 3 passengers arriving at Hongqiao Int Airport Terminal 2 at 10.20 AM and would like the best option to go to Central Hotel at No 555 Jiujiang Road. Please give us option of taxi or train and how much it will cost.

  21. Hello Preetam,

Just take subway line 2 directly from Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2 and get off the at the 20th station of East Nanjing Road (南京东路) and exit from Exit 4 and walk to your hotel ( 480 meters).

  22. If I am staying at a hotel in T2 and need to get to T1 by 5:00am (before the free shuttle service opens) for a 7:00am flight, what is the best way to get from T2 to T1?

  23. Hi, I am scheduled to arrive at Honquiao Terminal 1 at 1710hrs from Phnom Penh on China Eastern flight MU538 on Saturday April 13th. I will be travelling on a 144hr VISA and will have to process through immigration and customs and pick up my bag. I will then need to take the free shuttle bus to the Hongqiao West bus station to take the bus (code shqx-nax) to Nanxun leaving at 1915hrs .

Is 2 hours enough time to catch this last Nanxun bus? Or is there another solution?

    Thanking you in advance

    Cheers

    Dr David Musgrave

  24. Dear David Musgrave,

You may stay overnight at a hotle near the airport and the bus next morning. If you are pressed for time, you can take a taxi directly from the airport to your hotel in Nanxun ( around 500 yuan for the taxi ride ). Maybe your texi driver is not willing to go since it is out of the city of Shanghai. Try to negotiate with your cab driver. Have a nice trip!
