Badachu Park and Summer Palace Fall Foliage Day Tour
Overview
|
Tour Description
Pick from your hotel in Beijing around 9:00am and drive to the Badachu Park. The Badachu meaning "Eight Great Sites," refers to the eight Buddhist temples and monasteries scattered at the foot of Beijing's Western Hills Scenic Area in the Shijingshan District. Badachu Park is an attractive place to frolic all year round. People can walk from one temple to another, seeing the beautiful scenery and enjoy rare ancient trees. There are some over-6-century trees, but their roots and branches are still firm and strong. In September and October, when the leaves are turning red, a huge number of tourists flock here to climb the mountains. The cable car is optional. After seeing the red leaves, move on to the Summer Palace.
After Chinese lunch, we start the walking tour of the Summer Palace. Rated as a Unesco World Heritage Site, the Summer Palace is one of China's most famous gardens, where city-weary visitors can escape just as the Imperial Family did in the centuries before. Autumn brings a spectacular blaze of colour to the garden. Summer Palace has 10,000 trees that are more than 100 years old. The specimens include lacebark pines, willow trees, crab apple, peach trees and more. After the Summer Palace, return to your hotel in Beijing.
Dress for the hot or cold weather. The summer in Beijing could be humid and close, sometimes extremely hot. Also winter could be very cold. So well prepared for the uncomfortable weather both in winter and summer. You are advised to wear your most comfortable shoes.
Summer Palace presents itself with different views for different seasons. Winter sees people skiing on the Kunming Lake; Spring time finds people breathe under fresh trees and flowers; Summer time often sees Summer Palace in a foggy day like a beautiful "water and mountain" Chinese scroll painting. Autumn is the best time walking around Summer Palace, clear and blue sky with comfortable weather.
Summer Palace even at different times of a day allows you to see the different views under sunrise in the morning and sunset in the later afternoon.
