Spring Outing on April 29, 2007
Starting from May 01 to May 07, 2007 is the week-long holiday in China. Actually the legal holiday for the May Day is 3 days instead of the 7 days at the present. It is the result of the borrowing of the two weekends before and after. As a travel company dealing with the incoming market, we don't follow the present practice. We go on with the 3-day holiday for the May Day. To avoid the heavy traffic expected on May Day, we started our May Day outing on April 29 instead of the crowded May Day period. Our departure time was set at 7:40am. Most of the staff were on time. Anyhow, we set out at 8:00m on April 29. We were lucky enough o have Mr. Zhang to drive for us. He has just used a new Jing Long coach with two doors on the bus. The traffic was thin with most of the peole at work on that day. The May Day is a peak season for the domestic travel market. As for the incming market, it is a low season. So May Day is the good time for us to rewind ourself after so much paperwork and tough time during later March and April. The Sky was blue and high. The sights on the both sides green on the road to the Huirou District, where the Yanxi Lake is located. Our group activity was focused on Yanxi Lake. All of us 23 persons including Mr. Zhang, were happy and active. On the 2 hours' drive, some played cards, some enjoyed music, some just taked to each other and others took a nap. At last the Yanxi Lake ws in sight. We were happy to find the tourist spot didn't look too much touristy now due to the work day today! After taking a group photo, we entered the gate of the park like a fish. The most of the park is composed of the lake. They use the lake to start up about 20 water activities. The first activity for our group today was "Flying a parachute" recommended by me. Some years ago I once took part in the activity. It is a thrilling experience. Everybody was excited to join the activity. Each attendent is tug both by a parachute and a rope connected to a speed-boat. When the speed-boat runs, the attendent will fly up with the strength caused by the speed-boat. All of us felt a shame the flying ws too short, only one round of the fly. Ms. Zhao Yan was lucky. She got four rounds due to the fact she had missed the landding point for four times! Missing is in the bless! Later we enjoyed rock climbing, pirate's boat, bump-bump cars and so on. People had a happy time in Yanxi Lake. Afterwards, we went to the Tong Shui Trout Seedling Breeding Center at the foot of Jiankou Great Wall. There we set two tables. The local trouts are very famous. These kind of fish are said to be imported from the North America. They like to live in the cold and airy running water. So most the fish live in the running water from the mountains. The restautants are built on the fish pond. We ordered about 10 dishes including the famous roasted trouts and raw trouts. It was delicious! There we found sevral foreigners, expats, we guessed. They looked they quite enjoyed themselves, fishing and playing. Since we had a late lunch starting ar 2:00pm. So after lunch, we had to cancelled our plan of climbing a little bit of the Jiankou Great wall, the most dangerous and grandeour section of the great wall round Beijing! Everybody expects the next May Day, 2008! |
