Shijiazhuang City Tours

Shijiazhuang is the capital of Hebei Province 280 km (174 miles) southwest of Beijing. It is a major railroad junction for northern China, and home of China"s largest pharmaceutical factor and a center for the study of traditional Chinese medicine.
Shijiazhuang was little more than a village until the beginning of the 20th century, when it became a transit point on the railway from Beijing to Wuhan in the south. Construction of a second rail line between nearby Zhengding and the northern city of Taiyuan in 1907 led to further expansion of the city. Since the founding of the People"s Republic in 1949, Shijiazhuang has become a political and economic center of Hebei Province, and a center of the pharmaceutical industry.

A Brief Introduction to Scenic Spots

The Western Qing Tombs are a complex comprising some 14 tombs of the last Imperial Dynasty in China (1644-1911). The tombs contain the remains of emperors, empresses, princes and princesses, an emperor"s brother, and imperial concubines. Unlike previous dynasties, the Qing dynasty has two separate tomb complexes, namely eastern Qing tombs and western Qing tombs.

Zhaozhou Bridge, located 40km (25 miles) southwest of Shijiazhuang, was built between 596-605AD by the stonemason Li Chun. The bridge is one of the oldest stone arch bridges in China.
The bridge spans the Jiao River and is 50 meters (164ft) long and 10 meters (33ft) wide. The balustrades are beautifully decorated with dragons and other mythical creatures. Zhaozhou Bridge is remarkable more because it has survived the centuries rather than for its beauty.
