China Palaeozoological Hall
China Palaeozoological Hall is situated on Xizhimenwai Street. It is a specialized national museum of natural science which gives a systemic introduction to the origin and development of vertebrates.The hall houses more than 200,000 fossil samples of vertebrates of various kinds in different regions. The basic displays are composed of four parts: Dinosaur World (electric mechanical simulation), Ancient Fish Hall, Ancient Reptile Hall, and Mammal Hall. The fossils and other means of display show the audience the origin and evolution of pre-historic vertebrates. Academic findings in the field and the fossils inlayed in the oceanic and land stratums formed in different periods are also on display.
From the primitive jawless fish to the hard-bone and soft-bone fish, from amphibians to reptiles, from the past glorious dinosaur kingdom to the dominant mammal world, from ancient apes to Homo sapiens, various fossils will come into your eyes and tell you a clear outline of the development of vertebrates.
