Xiangyangtun Restauant is a nice and unique restaurant offering the food with Dongbei flavor dating back to the year of the Great Leap Forward. The Great Leap Forward took place in 1958. It was Mao’s attempt to modernise China’s economy so that by 1988, China would have an economy that surpassed America and England. The restaurant resembles a village during the years of the Great Leap Forward. You can find the familiar characters, paintings and banners popular during that time.
The restautant offers a rich collection of unique food and dishes. The menue include the simple, but healthy and well prepared Dongbei local dishes like greens fried in batter, griddle cakes, even fried scorpions, all of which showcase the depths of Chinese cooking during lean and hard years of the Great Lead Forward.
The Xiangyangtun Food Village is a stage-style restaurant with a platform in the front with featuring 30 compartment rooms of various sizes surrounded. This restaurant only offer square tables and no round tables. Usually 4 people share one table ( square table ). The stage style restaurant is flanked by two floors. The second floor has a nice view.
