Wuxi is located in the central Yangtze River Delta on the southeast coast of China. It is about 120km away from Shanghai and it is linked to the Yangtze River to the north while connected to the Taihu Lake to the south. It is a coastal city of Jiangsu Province with a total population of about 4 million. Wuxi occupies on area of about 4,600 km2. Wuxi is both Warm and humid, comfortable climate with four clearly devided seasons. Wuxi has some unique scenic highlights coupled with the Yangtze River, the Grand Canal, the Taihu Lake. Wuxi is china's renowned tourist city drawing the huge number of domestic and oversea travellers each year.
Taihu Lake (or Lake Tai) is the third largest freshwater lake in China. It has an area of 2250 square kilometres and as deep as 2 metres. About 90 islets, big or small, and with many fleets of fishing junk boats dotted makes the landscape even more attractive.
Originally it was Fanli's residence and back garden. Li Garden (Li yuan) lies in front of the Hubin Hote and on the shore of Taihu Lake. The garden is actually a blend of artificial bridges and pagodas scattered around small fishponds.
The Xihui Park is situated at 2.5 kilometers west of the downtown Wuxi. It has an area of 6.85 square kilometers and the park is named after Mt. Hui and Mt. Xi. It is of the most valuble scenic spots in Wuxi City.
