Xiamen Tour
Xiamen, also known as Amoy, is a coastal city in Fujian Province in Southeast China. The city of Xiamen was founded in the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) when the city walls were built and the town was established as an important seaport. The port was closed to foreigners in the 1750s. The 1841 Opeum Wars forced the Xiamen Port open and Xiamen became one of the first treaty port. In the early 1980s, Xiamen became one of the four original Special Economic Zones opened to foreign investment and trade when China's open door policy was practised. Now Xiamen is recoganized as one of the most suitable cities for living and most romantic leisure cities in China. The city center of Xiamen is on the island of the same name with tree-lined beaches, the old-world charm of Victorian-era style European buildings and the tiny Island of Gulangyu of a former foreign enclave.
