The hotel was on the edge of a market street, with lots of tiny restaurants and warmth. We eventually tried some of the restaurants and they were wonderful. I even used a neighbourhood beauty salon and recieved a sclap, face, neck, shoulder, arm and back rub for over an hour and a half - as part of the service. And the hair cut was one of the better ones I've ever had - for $10. The hotel was extremely helpful, most spoke English of varying degrees and would go out of their way to make sure our business trip was as successful as they could help make it. The rooms were fine - especially for the $40 Internet discounted price ($100+ through our travel agent). Many English TV channels (including HBO and news) were available, plus a hair dryer - but no shampoo. When they added the Cuppoccino machine, I thought I was in heaven. Coffee is hard to find in China - even Starbucks Coffee isn't quite what we'd expect. As with most Chinese hygene, the floors were not as clean as my mother would like them to be, but the Chinese also don't like to see anything touch the floor - ie, my coat. They would rush to help me keep it off the floor wherever I was. My only complaint would be that the bed was rock hard. We ended up putting the doona on top of the mattress to soften it a bit. Interesting free breakfast, "sometimes free" internet access, plus many other amenities we didn't use. The front desk girls called taxis for us and would work out good deals - like a last minute trip to the Great Wall. I used to staying at Marriotts, Hiltons, and Doubletrees when I was in the corporate game of 100,000 plus flying miles per year, but for a great location and great service at a great price, I'd stay at the Shatan Hotel again. ¡ôThe Internet discount room rate covers service charge. ¡ôThe hotel accept major credit card.check and cash payment ¡ôCheck out 12 noon. ¡ôThe hotel will hold the reservation till 18:00 per your request ¡ôAll rates are subject to change without notice |
