Day Tour
Day Tour
Tour Description
Pick up from your midtown hotel in Beijing and head to Yuan Dynasty City Wall Relics Park. The park is built on the original city wall relics in Yuan Dynasty ( 1271-1368 ). The park is about 9 kilometers long crossing Haidian and Chaoyang districts from west to east. It is the longest linear park in Beijing. The north section is the city wall protection area and the south section is the plantation area with flowers, trees and grass scattered with pavilions, scultures and murals. Every year the park will hold its Chinese Flowering Crabapple Festival, which will draw thousands of visitors to appreciate the grand view of over 2000 flowering Chinese Crabapple trees with a dozen of varieties. Then move on to Summer Palace, the largest former royal garden, a temporary dwelling palace for emperors of Qing Dynasty and Its predecessor was the Garden of Clear Ripples (Qingyiyuan) started in 1750 and burned down by the British and French allied troops in 1860. In 1886, Empress Dowager Cixi used navy outlays and other funds in the reconstruction and renamed the park as Summer Palace in 1888. Finally visit the Grand Panda House in Beijing Zoo to meet the lively panda. Beijing Zoo is located to the west of Beijing City ( 2km west of Xizhimen Subway Station). It has both rare Chinese animals, such as the Giant Panda and the Golden Monkey, and also a wide selection from around the world - from Polar Bears to Kangaroos. Over 6,000 animals of over 500 species are on show. The present place of Beijing Zoo was originally the imperial garden in the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). Various plants and trees were cultivated and animals were raised here in the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911). After the establishing of the People's Republic of China, the site was renovated and was later well known as the West Suburban Park. In 1955, the name was turned into Beijing Zoo and the range of animals was increased. The visits by the heads of states have brought some of the animals as gifts. After the whole day tour, return to your downtown hotel. Chinese lunch included.
