Jinshanling Great Wall & Tours
Jinshanling Great Wall (金山岭长城) is located about 130 km in the northeast of the downtown Beijing. To its east stands the Simatai Great Wall and the west stands Gubeikou Great Wall. Jinshangling Great Wall was named after the mountain called Jinshan Mountains. The Jinshanling Great Wall was first constructed built in the Ming Dynasty. The famous general, Xu Da, of the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) supervised and directed the construction of the Great Wall. Later, Qi Jiguang led a number of defense works while guarding the north area in 1567. This section has the total length of 11 kilometers. The Wall is about seven to eight meters in height and five to six meters width. The wall is made of brick and stone. The Jinshanling Great Wall is 700 meters above the sea level. You can see Beijing from the highest place on the Jinshanling Great Wall.
All the towers on Jinshanling Great Wall were constructed firmly and beautifully. Each tower has its unique feature and look. There are relatively less crowded here at Jinshanling Great Wall, and it is a nice place to explore the Great Wall around Beijing.

The hike from the east Jinshanling Great Wall to the west Simatai GreatWall is the most challenging, favored by Great Wall hikers. The cross hike from Jinshanling to Simatai Great Wall is still not allowed ( mainly due to the closure of Simatai West Section ).
Jinshanling Great Wall has become a famous scenic spot attracting numerous tourists from both home and abroad.

Opening Hours: 08:00 to 17:00
Hiking time: 2- 4 hours hours
How to Get there:
1) First take the public bus to Miyun County at from Dongzhimen Long Distance Bus Station, then take the local tourist bus or mini-bus to Jinshanling Great Wall.
2) Self-drive route: Drive along the "Beijing – Chengde Expressway", pass Gu Bei Kou Town, go down 10 km and arrive at Jinshanling Great Wall.
