Zhouzhuang Water Town is located at the middle between Shanghai and Suzhou, is an ancient town of Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province. The village abounds with rivers and lakes. Zhouzhuang boasts many cultural and historical relics ,including the houses if Shen and Zhang, the Milou Tower, Ye Chucang's Former Residence etc. Many ancient and modern scholars have stayed in or visited the town, just name some, like artist Chen Yifei. Chen Yifi's painting, "The Double Bridge", is as famous as the real double bridge in the town. A Well -known Chinese artist Wu Guanzhong once praised the town as a symbol of beauty of China's water township. Luo Zhewen, a nfamous architect, regarded Zhouzhuang as "a treasure of China".
Regarded as 'Venice of the East', this town has the best water town preserved in China. The town has a history of over 900 years and most of houses in the town were constructed in Ming (1368-1644) or Qing Dynasties (1644-1911).The rivers and streams in Zhouzhuang passes the town and are connected by 14 stone-arch bridges constructed in Yuan (1271-1368), Ming, and Qing Dynasties. There are many unique sites and views to visit and see, including Twin Bridges, Fuan Bridge, Shen House, Milou Tower, and more.
The town has been selected as 4-AAAA Grade among the national tourist attractions. The town has also been selected as one of the top 50 China锟斤拷s tourist attractions in a nationwide survey. There are more than 1 million tourists visiting the small water town each year.
