Wuhan Maps
Wuhan is the capital city of Hubei Province and the largest city in the central China. It is composed of the three formerly independent towns (Wuchang, Hankou and Hanyang), which are cut apart by the Yangtze River and Hanjiang River. Wuhan is at the intersection of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and the Hanjiang River, hence the name of "the City of Rivers and Lakes". Wuhan is a historical city with a history of over 3500 years. China's Chu culture starts here. The city was prised open to the foreign trade in 19th century by the Treaty of Nanjing. Today you still can find the colonial buildings in the former foreign concessions along Yanjiang Road and Jianghan Road. The 1911 Xinhai Revolution first broke out in the city of Wuhan, which sparkled the beginning of the end for the Qing Dynasty.
