When to Visit
Tianjin has a distinctive four seasons with monsoon-influenced climate - cold and dry in winter, hot and humid in summer and a bit windy and dusty in spring. The best season to visit Tianjin is between September and early November. The rainy season falls on July and August. If you are going to drive along the expressway from Tianjin Port to Tianjin, or from Tianjin to Beijing, you need to check the weather report for the possible heavy fog on the way. Mostly in early spring and late autumn there is a great possibility of heavy fogs along the highway. So be ready for planning your road trip during the possible dense smog days.
Getting There and Away
Travel to Tianjin by train Tianjin has five major railway stations - Tianjin Railway Station (also locally called Tianjin East Railway Station), Tianjin South Railway Station, Tianjin West Railway Station, Tianjin North Railway Station and Tanggu Railway Station.
• Tianjin Railway Station: Located at 1 Xinwei Road, Hebei District in the downtown area of Tianjin. Tianjin Railway Station is mainly used for the inter-ctiy bullet trains ( "C" Trains ) between Beijing and Tianjin.
• Tianjin South Railway Station: Located in Xiqing District, far from the city center of Tianjin. Tianjin South Railway Station is one of the five stations along the Beijing - Shanghai high speed trains. Most of Beijing Shanghai high-speed trais will stop at the Tianjin South Railway Station.
• Tianjin West Raiway Station: Located in Hongqiao District in the urban area of Tianjin. Tianjin South Railway Station operates the high-speed rail service to Shanghai. It can be reached by Tianjin Metro Line 1. Some of the Beijing Shanghai high-speed trains also stop at Tianjin West Railway Station.
• Tianjin North Railway Station: Located in Hebei District in the north of Tianjin. This railway station is used mainly for K or slow trains.
• Tanggu Railway Station: Located in the important port area of Tanggu District to the east of Tianjin city center. Tanggu Railway Station handles the bullet train service both to Tianjin and Beijing, about 30km away from the Tianjin Cruise Port.
So, please pay special attention to your ticket and make sure you are on the right station in Tianjin.
Overland Travel to Tianjin
It is very convenient to travel to Tianjin by highway. Several pivotal expressways intersect at Tianjin including Jingjintang Expressway from Beijing through Tianjin's urban area, to Tanggu District / TEDA; Jinghu Expressway from Beijing to Shanghai; Jingshen Expressway from Beijing to Shenyang. Please note that the expressways to Beijing are sometimes closed due to dense smog in the Autumn and Spring. So be ready for planning your road trip during the time.

Tianjin urban area plans to build 13 subway lines. Now Subway Line 1, 2, 3 and part of Line 9 have been put into operation. Tianjin Railway Station is reached by subway line 2 and 3; Tianjin North Railway Station by subway line 3 and Tianjin West Station by subway line 1. The line 9 is a light rail connecting Tianjin downtown to Tanggu. Other subway lines are under construction.

Binjiang Dao Walking Street (Binjiang Ave) You cross the Liberation Briddge and follow your nose along Liberation Road to the southwest direction. Not far, you will get to an avenue called "Binjiang Dao - Binjiang Aenue" running from northest to southwest, you turn right and walk along Binjiang Dao to the south west direction. Keeping on walking, you will get to the walking street part of Binjiang Dao. This is the place to shop in Tianjin. Hundreds of retailors stores are assembled on the walking street.
