Train Travel to Sanya
Located about 8km northeast of Sanya city center, Sanya Railway Station is the most southern train station on the loop high speed train line circling the Hainan Island. You may reach Sanya by taking one of the many daily high speed trains from Haikou (2 hours), the regional capital city of Hainan Province in China. There are are also
fast overnights to Sanya from Beijing and Guangzhou.

Flight Travel to Sanya
Sanya Phoenix Airport has domestic flights from Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou as well as the international flights from Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan and Japan.
Sanya airport is located about 15km to the northeast of Sanya city center. Arriving at Sanya airport, you may take Bus No 8 from the airport, which runs to Jiefang road and No. 01 market in Sanya. You just pay 5 yuan for the bus fare on the bus. There are several bus lines going from the airport.
Overland Travel to Sanya
Numerous buses run between Sanya and Haikou, the capital city of Hainan Province. Sanya Bus Station is located along Jiefang Road and the last bus starts at 11:00pm and arrives at Haikou East Bus Station. The bus ride takes about 3.5 hours.
Cruise Travel to Sanya
Sanya Phoenix International Cruise Port is an import port of call along China's coastline. Every year there are routine cruises docking at Sanya for a brief visit on their Asian cruise trips. The cruise terminal is located on Phoenix Island off the coastline near the city center of Sanya.
When to Visit Sanya
Sanya is suitable for leisure travel all year round due to the little temperature difference between winter and summer. The best time to visit Sanya is from October to March next year, a period when Northern China is getting colder while here in Sanya still feels warmer.
Wearing summer clothes, you may walk on the palm-lined beaches, bathe in warm sea, eating tropical fruits, enjoying the romance of the most southern place in China.
Where to Stay in Sanya
Most travelers stay at the hotels or resorts along Dadonghai Bay, Yalong Bay, Haitang Bay and Sanya Bay. Dadonghai is the place to look for a budget or mid-range hotels. The top-end and international hotel chains are located along Yalong Bay Beach. Haitang Bay Beach is a booming place for new hotels and resorts. Winter is the peak tourist season with hotel rates increasing sharply while shoulder or low season sees 30-70% discounts everywhere.

2. Yanoda Rainforest Cultural Tourism Zone 呀诺达雨林文化旅游区
Located 35km north of the city center of Sanya, Yanoda Rainforest Cultural Tourism Zone is famous for the unique rain forest at 18 degrees north latitude of China.
It is a looking glass into the most magnificent features of the five rain forests in Hainan with a high reputation in China. Visitors here can feel peacefulness and the mystery in the deep rain forest, take in fresh air, go camping and stream trekking, and experience local Li People hospitality and more.
3. Yalong Bay 亚龙湾
Yalong Bay is situated in the southernmost part of Hainan Province, 25 kilometers away from Sanya city enter. The 7-kilometer Yalong Bay Beach is the best beach in Sanya.
4. Dadonghai Bay 大东海
Dadonghai is located 3 kilometers southeast of downtown Sanya, between Mt. Tuziwei and Mt. Luhuitou. The beach, surrounded by mountains on three sides, is fringed with rows of coconut trees while crystal clear seawater laps the white sandy beach. Compared with Yalong Bay and Sanya Bay, the beach is only 10 minutes' drive from downtown Sanya, so it is the most popular and lively beach in the area.
5. Tianya Haijiao 天涯海角
Tianya Haijiao scenic spot is located at the foot of Xiamaling Mountain in Tianya Town, about 23 km to the west of Sanya city center. Tianya Haijiao has unique scenery rarely found anywhere else. Walking into the area, your eyes will get caught by a couple of huge high standing rocks measuring over 10m high and 60m long.
6. Wuzhizhou Island 蜈支洲岛
Wuzhizhou located at Linwan Zhen in Sanya, 2.7 km after the sea off the coast of the village. It is an ideal place for vacation, winter swimming as well as entertainment.
7. Nantian Hot Spring 南田温泉
Nantian Hot Spring is abundant in Minerals that is healthily beneficial and therefore developed into a tourism spot filled with tropical atmosphere.
8. Nanshan Culture Tourism Zone 南山文化
The zone covers an area of 50 square kilometers, and its major sites include Nanshan Temple, an important Buddhist temple, the Gold & Jade Kwanyin (Avalokiteshvara, Goddess of Compassion.
Get Around in Sanya
Buses 2 and 8 take you from Sanya city center to Dadonghai Bay. People staying at Dadonghai Bay have more-or-less everything within walking distance. If you want to go from Dadonghai Bay to Yalong Bay, just take bus 15.
Taxis charge 8 yuan for the first 2 km. A taxi ride from Sanya city center to Dadonghai Bay costs about 10-15 yuan and from Dadonghai Bay to Yalong Bay about 60 yuan.
Eating and Drinking in Sanya
Sanya Bay and Dadonghai Bay are the two places for a wide range of eating and drinking - outdoor seating for barbecue and Hainan fare.
What to Buy in Sanya
Sanya is well known for its local produces of pearls which are sold everywhere. Prices are not fixed and negotiable. Produces sold to tourists are overpriced and try to beat down the prices.
Coconut powders and teas are also popular local buys. Just stick to the small shops and street vendors for cheaper stuff as souvenirs.
