Location: Hainan(海南), also known as Qiong(琼) for short, is the southmost province in China. Hainan is separated from Guangdong by the Qiongzhou Strait in the south, to the Beibu Gulf and Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the west, to the Philippines, Brunei and Malaysia in the south and east.

History: As early as 6,000 years ago, our ancestors of Li nationalities began to engage in various pristine works. In the Western Han Dynasty, Hainan was formally set up as Zhuya County. Then in Ming Dynasty, it was renamed Qiongzhou Prefecture and Qing Dynasty kept the name.
Hainan was liberated on April 30, 1950 and it was set up as Hainan Administrative Corruption. From August 1988 to September 1988, Hainan held the first Communist Party Congress, and the first People's Congress successively, established the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and the Hainan Provincial People's Government.
Climate: Hainan Island is located in the northern edge of the tropics, which has a tropical monsoon climate. Hainan has always been a "natural greenhouse" , where there is long summer and no winter, the average temperature is 22 ~ 26 ℃. Hainan enjoys ample rainfall and the annual average rainfall is 1639 mm.
Transportation: Air- Haikou Meilan International Airport and Sanya Phoenix International Airport both provide air passenger service to and from cities all over the world. Hainan Airlines has also become a member of China's four major airlines, which is a leader of China Aviation Industry.
Railway- The main railway lines of Hainan is the Hainan Western Ring Railway and Hainan Eastern Ring High-Speed Railway. Haikou and Sanya are two major railway passenger stations.
Highway- The mileage has reached 1.7 million km. Based on the skeleton of "three verticals and four horizontals", there are trunk line to ports, cities, counties, and has branch extended to the 318 towns and tourist attractions all over the island, the island highway has been opened to traffic.
Waterway- The province has 68 natural harbors and has 24 open ports. Haikou, Sanya, Basuo and Yangpu are four biggest ports. Other major ports are: Qinglan, Puqian, Xincun, Baimajing, Boao and Xinying.

Events: Hainan Island Coconut Festival- Hainan Island, also known as "Coconut Island", the coconut tree is a symbol of Hainan. Each year in late March or early April, Hainan International Coconut Festival is to be held in Haikou. It is major international business tourism and cultural festivals, containing travel, culture, folklore, sports, trade and economic activities.
During the Coconut Festival, many activities will be held, such as the Coconut City Lantern Festival, the festival of Li and Miao nationalities, the International Dragon Boat Race, weddings and worship of Li and Miao nationalities and so on.
