Location: Heilongjiang (黑龙江) lies in the northeast of China, and borders Russia in the east, Wusuli River in the north, Inner Mongolia in the west and Jilin Province in the south.Population: 67,822,700
Area: with an area of 140,000 square kilometers
Nationalities: Heilongjiang is a multi-ethnic province including Han, Mongolia, Daur, Manchus, Oroqen, Ewenki, Hezhe, etc.
History: In the Old Stone Age, about 30,000-40,000 years ago, our ancestors once multiplied in this area. Tang Dynasty once set up military governor office in Shiwei, Heishui and Bohai. Heilonjiang was under the administration of Lingbei and Liaoyang during the Yuan Dynasty and belonged to the Nuzen nationality in Ming Dynasty.
In Qing Dynasty, Heilongjiang province was set up. After the establishment of People's Republic of China, Heilongjiang Province and Songjiang Province were established and in 1954, the two provinces were combined into Heilongjiang Province.
Climate: Heilongjiang enjoys a temperate continental climate. The annual average temperature ranges from -5℃-5℃, descending from south to north. Winter is long and bitter. The temperature averages from -31.5 ℃to -15℃ in January. Summer is short and cool with an average temperature of 18℃-23℃ in July. The annual rainfall is between 400mm-650mm, mostly concentrated in summer.
Transportation: Air-Harbin Taiping International Airport, Qiqihar Sanjiazi Airport, Qiqihar Sanjiazi Airport, Daqing Sartu Airport together with Mudanjiang Hailang Airport are four main airports in Heilongjiang services airlines to abroad and cities in home.
Railway- As one of the earliest cities that constructed railway, Heilongjiang began to build the its first railway (Bingsui-Bingzhou Railway) in 1897. Over 60 railways run through Heilongjiang Province and lead into all directions centering on Harbin, Qiqihar, Mudanjiang and Jiamusi. Bingsui-Bingzhou Railway connects with Siberia Railway of Russia. Mudanjiang-Tumen Railway is interlinked with North Korea.
Highway- 7 National Roads run through Heilongjiang Provicne. Daqing-Harbin-Mudanjiang-Suifenhe Highway and 102 National Road-Harbin-Jiamusi-Hegang have been completed. Daqing-Qiqihar Highway, Jiamusi-Tongjiang Highway and 102Naitonal Road-Changchun Highway are under construction.
Waterway- With Harbin Port and Jiamusi Port as the transfer hub, the water transfer network pass through Heilongjiang Province.
Specialties: Panax, pilose and marden are acknowledged as "Three Treasures" of Northeastern region of China.
Local Food: Due to its special geographical position and long history, Heilongjiang cuisine features hot and dense, strong flavors.
