History: According to the historical record, Jiangsu was originally one part of the Wu Kindom and the name "Jiangsu" comes from the combination of the first Chinese character of "Jiang Ning" and "Su Zhou". In history, Jinagsu belonged to many states successively.
In the Qin Dynasty, it was under the charge of Kuaiji Couty, Zhang Courty, Sishui County, Dongha County, and so on successively.
In the Tang Dynasty, Jiangsu was one part of Jiangnan, Huainan and Henan. In Northern Song Dynasty, it belonged to eastern Jiangnan Prefecture, Liangzhe Prefecture, eastern Huainan Prefecture and western Jingdong Prefecture. In Yuan Dyanty, it was one part of Jiangzhe and Henan prefectures.
In the Ming Dynasy, Jiangsu Province and Anhui Province both belonged to Yingtianfu with Nanjingas its center. In the early Qing Dynasty, it was part of Jiangnan Province.
Jiangnan Province was separated into Jiangsu Province and Anhui Province. After the People's Republic of China was founded, North Su and South Su administrative areas were established.
Climate: Situated in the climatic transition belt between the temperate zone and subtropical zone, Jiangsu enjoys a humid and semi-humid monsoon climate. The annual average temperature is 13℃-16℃. The coldest month is January with average temperature at -1℃-3.3℃ and the hottest month is July with the average temperature at 26℃-29℃. The annual average rainfall is between 800 to 1,200 mm, wither higher precipitation in the southeast and lower in the northwest. Sixty percent of the rainfall is during the summer in the northeast.
Transportation: Air-In northern Jiangsu, Xuzhou Airport, Yancheng Airport and Lianyungang Airport serves as hubs. In the south, Nanjing Lukou International Airport serves as the major airport in the province.
Railway- Railways and lines connect more than 40 big and medium-sized cities of Jiangsu. Nanjing and Xuzhou are two transportation hubs in Jiangsu Province.
