Location: As the capital of Shandong Province, Jinan (济南) is situated in the south wing of Annulus Bohai Area.

History: The history of Jinan could be traced back to more than 5,000 years ago. Jinan has been called differently throughout the history. In the Shang and Zhou Dynasty, Jinan was named Tan, and during the Spring and Autumn Period renamed as Luo county. During the Warring States Period, Jinan was renamed as "Lixia" county. From then on, the name "Jinan" has been adopted by all the dynasties for the past 2,000-plus years of history.
Since the foundation of New China, the administrative districts of Jinan have experienced several changes. As the politiccal, economic and cultural center of Shandong Province, Jinan has achieved all-around development after more than 20 year of reform and opening to the outside. Nowadays, Jinan has become a unique modernized metropolis with beautiful scenery and friendly climate.
Climate: With a warm-temperate continental monsoon climate and clear-cut seasonal changes, Jinan has an average annual temperature of 14 C and an annual mean precipitation of 650-700 mm. The city is dry and nearly rainless in spring, hot and rainy in summer, crisp in autumn and dry and cold (with little snow) in winter.
Transportation: As a hub of communications of Shandong,, Jinan has already formed the stereoscopic traffic network, and it is very convenient with being extended in all direction.
Air-Nowadays, Jinan offers about 40 domestic airlines and a couple of international lines. You can reach about 30 cities of China and cities outside of China. Yaoqiang International Airport is located 40km of northeast of urban area.
Railway-There are two railway guest stations in Jinan, Jinan Railway Station and Jinan East Railway Station, connecting Jinan with other big cities, such as Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, etc.
Highway-There are two major coach stations in Jinan, Jinan Coach Terminal and East Coach Station. The former one offers coaches heading for the cities of Shandong province and the big neighboring cities. The second one provide coaches connecting Jinan and cities of other provinces such as Shijiazhuang, Taiyuan, et c.

Attractions: Jiurushan Waterfalls Scenic Sport-Jiurushan Falls Scenic Sports (九如山瀑布群风景区), situated in Xiying town, Licheng district, Jinan, is a large national forest park. Covering an area of 36 square kilometers, the sport scenic gathers with mountain, waterfall, spring and stream. Over 36 mountains are as high as 800 meters above the sea.
Baotu Spring-Baotu Spring (趵突泉) is considered as the symbol and mark of Jinan city, close to Qianfo Hill in the south and Quancheng Square in the east. Baotu spring ranks first during 72 famous springs of Jinan, praised as the No.1 spring of the world. Baotu spring is divided into three strands spewing day and night. It has a constant temperature of 18℃ throughout the year.
Thousand Buddha Mountain -Thousand Buddha Mountain (千佛山) is situated in the south of Jinan downtown, about 2.5 kilometers from the center. It got the mane for a massive stone Buddha images which were carved by Buddhism believers. Thousand Buddha Cave is on the north side of Thousand Buddha Mountain, covering about 30,000 Buddha figures, which record the historical development of Chinese Buddhism. Thousand Buddha cliff is on the south side of Xingguo temple, counting for the study on Buddhism in Sui Dynasty.
Daming Lake – Daming Lake (大明湖), together with Thousand Buddha Mountain and Baotu spring are known as the three place of interest in Jinan. Daming lake occupies a quarter of old Jinan city, with an area of 58 hectares. It is a natural lake converged by numerous springs.
