History: With a history of more than 5,000 years, Linxia was called Hezhou at first. Throughout its history, Hezhou often was the crossing of important trade routes: one of the alternative paths of the east-way Silk Route, connecting China's heartland with Central Asia, and the north-south route linking Mongolia and Tibet. During parts of the Song Dynasty period, when the Western Xia took control of the more northerly path of the Silk Route, the more southerly Didao-Hezhou-Xining alternative path of the Silk Route may have become particularly important, making all three cities important commercial centers. Historians think that it was then, during the Song Dynasty, that the Muslims of Hezhou probably built their first mosque.[
Climate: Linxia enjoys a semi-aird climate, with the annual average temperature of 6.2°C. its annual precipitation is only 537mm, and there are about 137 frost-free days a year. The total sunshine hours is about 2572.3.
Transportation: There is no airport and railway station in Linxia. Lanzhou Zhongchuan Airport is the nearest, about 100km from Linxia.

Local Food: The beef and mutton is very famous and delicious, the Mutton Fazi and Youmiancha is the the most favorite food in Linxia.
Attraction: Liujiaxia Reservior-Liujiaxia Reservoir is located entirely within Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture with an area of more than 130 square kilometers. The water level in Liujiaxia Reservoir is usually reported as 1,735 m (5,692 ft) above the sea level,[2][3] but in practice it varies significantly, in accordance with the water flow and human needs.
