History: The history of Sichuan could be traced back to Paleolithic Age, about 2,000,000 years ago, when mankind made activities on this area. As early as 7,000-8,000 years, Sichuan stepped into Neolithic Age. In Shang and Zhou Dynasty, two countries were built up in Sichuan. One was Shu Kingdom in today's Chuanxi region, the other was Ba Kingdom in today's Chuandong region. As a result, Sichuan was named "Bashu" in ancient times.
Sichuan was subjected to the autonomous control of kings named by the imperial family of Han Dynasty. The government of Song Dynasty installed four roads respectively named Yi, Zi, Li and Kui, which were called Sichuan Road in total. Sichuan province appeared firstly in Yuan Kingdom. In Qing Dynasty, the outline of southern part in Sichuan was established. After the found of the People's Republic of China, Sichuan split into four areas and separated out Chongqing municipality.
Climate: Climate in Sichuan has large difference according to the different terrain. The eastern part has warm winter, dry spring, hot summer and rainy autumn while in the west, the winter is long and cold without summer. Under the influence of tropical semi-humid climate, the hilly area in southwest has a higher temperature. Its annual average temperature is 12-20℃. It has less rainfall with annual precipitation of 900-1200mm, 7 months for dry seasons.
The climate in the nothwestern mountain and plateau region changes obviously due to the height of altitude. Subtropics, warm temperate zone, temperate zone, cool temperate zone, subfrigid zone, frigid zone and permafrost zone are followed in sequence from valley to ridge. It features an annual mean temperature of 4-12℃ and an annual precipitation of 500-900mm.
Transportation: Airport-With the quick development of aviation, Sichuan posses Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, Dazhouhe Airport, Luzhou Lantian Airport, Mianyang Nanjiao Airport, Jiuzhai Huanglong Aiport, Yibing Caiba Airport, Nanchong Gaoping Airport, Xichang Qingshan Airport, Kangding Airport, Panzhihua Baoanying Airport, Guangyuan Panlong Airport, etc.
Railway- Sichuan Railway Network consists of 5 railways, 8 branch lines and 4 local railways.
Highway-Chengdu-Chongqing Highway is the traffic artery between Sichuan province and Chongqing with a length of 340.2 kilometers.
Waterway- Yangtze River, running across the whole province, is the main waterway. Sichuan waterway is composed of Jinshajiang section, Yangtze River section, Tuojiang and Jialingjiang.
Local Specialties: Sichuan brocade and Sichuan embroidery are available in Chengdu.
Local Food: Sichuan is the paradise of foodies. Sichuan cuisine is popular in the whole country for its spicy, hot, fresh and fragrant.
