Location: Taiwan (台湾), named "Tai" for short, is situated on the southeast coast of China and borders East Sea to the north, the Pacific Ocean to the east, South Sea to the south and face to Fujian Province across the Taiwan Strait.

History: Taiwan is an inalienable part of China. Taiwan was linked together with the mainland in ancient age and then separated due to crustal movement about millions of years ago. Holland and the Spanish Colonial Period
Early in the 17th century, Spain invaded Taiwan and took up some northern and eastern regions. Then in 1642, Holland drove away Spain and occupied Taiwan as its colony as long as 38 years.
Zheng Chenggong Period
In 1662, Zheng Chenggong recovered Taiwan from Holland colonists. Zheng family transplanted political and cultural systems of mainland into Taiwan and developed the international trade.
Qing Dynasty Period
The prime of Zheng Family was in military confrontation with Qin Government. On 8th, July, 1683, Shi Lang, the navy leader in Fujian, was assigned to march toward Taiwan and recaptured Taiwan successfully. In 1684, Taiwan Prefecture was established belonged to Qing Dynasty.
Climate: Taiwan is divided into two climatic regions by the Tropic of Cancer. The northern is subtropical monsoon climate and the south is tropical monsoon climate. Taiwan is surrounded by sea on all sides, so the climate in Taiwan is comfortable all year round. The annual average temperature is around 22℃. Taiwan is one of the regions which have the most abundant rainfall, where the average annual rainfall exceeds 2,000mm.
Transportation: Air- Taoyuan International Airport and Gaoxiong International Airport are two main international airports in Taiwan. Most of international flights take off and land in Taoyuan International Airport. If your destination is northern city of Taiwan, Taoyuan International Airport is the firs choice, otherwise, you could choose Gaoxiong International Airport.
Railway- Metropolises Metro is the main tool of railway transfer in the megapolis such as Taipei. Gaoxiong Metro Red Line was opened on 9th, Marcch, 2008 and Gaoxiong Metro Orange Line was put into operation formally on 21st, September, 2008. Taipei-Gaoxiong High-speed Railway is operated on 1st, Feb., 2007.
Highway- Highway network pervades the whole island and outlying islands areas. Zhongshan Highway and Formosa Highway pass through the Western Corridor.
Waterway- Taiwan is advanced in waterway since it is lined by sea on all sides. Foreign trade mainly relies on marine transportation. Gaoxiong Port, Keelung Port, Taichung Port, Hualian Port and Suao Port are the prime business ports in Taiwan.
