Train Travel to Guiyang
Guiyang has two passenger railway stations - Guiyang Railway Station and North Railway Station. The old Guiyang Railway Station is located close to the southwest of the city center. It serves trains to the destinations including Anshun, Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Kaili, Kunming, Zhengyuan and more. Flight Travel to Guiyang
Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport is located about 11km to the southeast of the city center. It has multiple flights to the destinations like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing and Kunming. Tel: 0851 5498024.
Frequent airport shuttle bus service brings you from the airport to the city center at the cost of 10 yuan. The taxi ride from the airport to the down town costs about 60 yuan.
Overland Travel to Guiyang
There are several long-distance bus stations of various sizes. But the bus transport in Guiyang mainly depends on the two bus stations - Jinyang Passenger Bus Station and Guiyang East Passenger Bus Station.
1. Jinyang Passenger Bus Station 金阳客车站
It is the largest bus station in Guiyang. It is located about 15km to the northwest of the city center. It operates numerous bus lines with Guizhou Province going to Anshun, Kaili and many more as well as to Guilin, Kunming and so on.

When to Visit Guiyang
Guiyang is located at the altitude of around 1100 meters. Guiyang has a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate,
coupled by its low latitude and high elevation. It has an average yearly temperature at 15.3℃: the coldest in the first half January and hottest in the late July.
Guiyang often rains and has the less sun shines compared to the other cities. Average monthly relative humidity is consistently above 75% throughout the year. The best time to visit Guiyang is from March through October.

Top Attractions in Guiyang
Qingyan Ancient Town (青岩古镇)Qingyan Ancient Town is located about 29 km to the south of the city center of Guiyang. It is a former military outpost with a history of over 600 years dating back to 1378 in Ming Dynasty. It is a pleasant escape from the bustle and hustle with its stone-flagged streets and restores city walls. The ancient town was elaborately designed and artistically built with scattered temples, old Ming and Qing buildings, and old churches.
Qianling Hill Park 黔灵山公园
Qianling Hill Park is located about 2 km to the northwest of the city center of Guiyang. It is named after the namesake hill in the park. The park is known for its dense forest, clear water and charming mountain. Hongfu Temple in the park is worth exploring.
Originally built in 1667, Hongfu Temple is the largest temple of Zen Buddhism in Guizhou Province. Hongfu means to develop Buddha's spirits and to benefit mankind. It stands near the top of Qianling Hill with a building history dating back to 17th century. It is a 40-minute walk to the temple, or you may take a cable up.
Jiaxiu Tower 甲秀楼
Jiaxiu Tower is perched on the southern bank of Nanming River. It was originally built based a giant rock dating back to Ming Dynasty ( 1368 - 1644). In Qing Dynasty it was rebuilt for several times and the present pavilion dates back to 1909. It is a three-story pavilion 20 meters high with white stone railings, Nanming River passing by at its front. A stone archway bridge named "Fuyu Bridge" connects the pavilion and spans the river. It has a stunning view with clear rivers and green mountains on its four side.
Cuiwei Garden 翠微园
Cuiwei Garden is a group of fairly large ancient buildings adjoining Jiaxiu Tower with an area of over 4000 square meters. The garden has the only Ming-era buildings left in Guiyang city, dating back to the years between 1488 and 1505. The garden features vividly designed buildings and pavilions, elegant long corridors with flower walls, a combination of quietness, grandness and simplicity.
Wenchang Pavilion 文昌阁
It is a Taoist temple that enshrines the God of Wenchang dating back to the year 1609 and went through several reconstructions in Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911 ). The main building is 20 meters high, 11.58 meters wide with three stories and three eaves. It has an irregular nonagonal spire with painted window flowers and floors featuring the unique local architecture.
Hebin Park 河滨公园
The park is located southwest of the city center by the side of the Nanming River, hence the name of Hebin Park literally meaning "Riverside Park". It sits between the hill and the river with clear water, green willow trees, scattered with fish ponds, flower beds, shades, pavilions and recreation facilities. It is a typical urban park attracting locals to come here for leisure activities like drinking tea, singing and dancing, cage birding and more, a perfect place to mix with the locals.
Guizhou Provincial New Museum 贵州省博物新馆
Guizhou Provincial New Museum is a comprehensive museum with a construction area of 46,000 square, 10 times the old museum which dates back to the year 1958. The new museum started to be operational 2015 with well-designed appearance and fashionable internal decoration. It mainly displays the artifacts related to ethnic minority groups including embroidery, wax dying, brocade, silver work and many more.
Get Around in Guiyang
Guiyang has a convenient public bus system, but it is mainly designed for the local Chinese and it is a bit touch for foreigners to get familiar with the travel routes. Bus fare is cheap with 1 yuan around the town and 2 yuan for a distant place.
It is a good way to travel around Guiyang by taxi. The taxi charges 10 yuan at flagfall for the first 3 km and 1.6 yuan per km after. But in a rush hour, it is not easy to hail a taxi, so you'd better book your taxi in advance if you have to catch flight or train. Some taxis may pick up extra passengers in the city center.
It is not bad an idea to walk a bit around some neighborhoods to explore some interesting small shops and restaurants. So footwork is a great way to travel around the city of Guiyang.
Local Cuisines in Guiyang
Like those in the southwest China, people in Guiyang favor spicy food. Hotpot is spread with salty and dried chili power. You can ask for less spicy food, but it is better to do the way local do. North of the train station and Jiefang Road, you can find lots of eateries at Zunyi Road, hotpot, Sichuan food and local ordinary food. It is close around 10pm.
