Jingban Folk Music, LongyanJingban Folk Music expressed both quietness and the rhythm of “board beating”. Its leisurely melody transmits the rich local characteristics of life and is therefore a gem of Minxin folk music. Each melody is played three times with its speed higher and higher. One melody starts with leisureliness when the previous one is completed. It is usual that the music on stage has completed while the audience under stage remain seated, still enjoying the beauty of the music.
Minxi Puppet Show, Longyan
Minxi Puppet Show is operated with lines and is also called “Kuijue Opera”. From the early period of Ming dynasty the puppet show was introduced from Zhejiang Province to Shanghang County and then transmitted to the Hakka concentrated communities in Minxi, Guangdong and Jiangxi Province. Minxi Puppet Show adopts the melody of Minxi Han opera as its aria, and accompanied by the music instruments including gong, drum, chord, sona, Chinese violin, and accordion. Each puppet is about 80 centimeter-high; their hands are divided into two kinds :civil and military; the forms of their feet include three kinds— bare, on shoes, and female. Each puppet has its own facial expression.
Minxi Han Opera, Longyan
Minxi Han Opera, also called Waijiang Opera, has a history of over 200 years. It has absorbed the cream of Minxi Hakka dialect and folk music, and finally developed its own unique style as a local opera in Fujian Province. It is popular in west Fujian Province, east Guangdong, south Jiangxi and south Fujian; moreover, it has been introduced to Taiwan Province as well as countries in Southeast Asia.
