Autumn ( September to November ) is the two ideal months to travel Nanjing. Spring time is the rainy season. Summer could be very hot in Nanjing, which is dubbed as one of the "furnaces" in China and July is the hottest month. March and April are also best season to see the beautiful colours in Suzhou. Winter ( December to Fabruary ) could be cold, humid and foggy.
Travel to Nanjing by train
Travel to Nanjing by train is most comfortable and convenient. Plantiful daily highspeed trains running from Beijing( 3 and half hours ), Jinan( 2 and half hours ), Wuxi( 1 hour ), Suhzou( 1 and half hours ), Shanghai( 2 hours ), Hangzhou( 2 hours and 15minutes ).
Nanjing has two major railway stations - Nanjing Railway Station ( old one ) to the north of Xuawu Lake and Nanjing South Railway Station ( 10km south of Nanjing downtown ). Nanjing Railway Station is used for T and K trains while Nanjing South Railway Station is designed for high-speed trains.
Nanjing South Railway Station is considered the largest high-speed train station in Asia and the largest railway station in East China. Overland Travel to Nanjing
Going to Nanjing by long-distance bus is also a popular way of traveling Nanjing since East China has the most convenient and high-quality expressways in China. Plentiful buses shuttle to Nanjing from Yangzhou, Zhenjiang, Wuxi, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Huangshan, Shanghai and more cities. Nanjing Long-distance Bus Station ( 025-85331288 ), the main bus station, is located to the southwest of the intersection of Zhongshan Road.
Travel to Nanjing by Flight
Nanjing has plentiful flights to the major cities in China. Nanjing Lukou Airport is about 36km south of the city center. The buses ( RMB25 ) go between the airport and the Zhongshan South Road Bus Station. A taxi ride costs you around RMB 130.
It is very convenient to find a taxi on the street in Nanjing. The models of taxi in Nanjing include Pusang, Santana 2000, Santana 300,Kia, Jetta, Qirui, Cirtroen, Passat, Red-flag, and Buick.

Bus Y1: Runs from Nanjing Railway Sation to Nanjing Long-distance Bus Station, on to Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum
Bus Y2: Goes from the Martyrs' Cemetery, runs by Fuzi Temple and finally to Zhongshan National Park.
Bus Y3: Goes by Nanjing Railway Station on to Sun Yatsen Mausoleum and Linggu Temple.
At present, Nanjing has two metro lines cutting through the city center - Line 1 from North to South and Line 2 from east to west. These two subway lines easily bring you to the major attractions in Nanjing and connect you to the two railway stations as well. The subway line 1 and line 2 are interchanged at the station of Xinjiekou.

Two major dining areas in Nanjing are the famous Fuzi Temple area and Shiziqiao on the Hunan Road. Both are lively walking streets teeming with snack stalls, small restaurants.
