The Yellow River enters Ningxia at Heishan Gorge, passing Fengtai Mountain, Shishan Valley, North Long Beach through to Shapotou. It is a good place to float down on the churning Yellow River on a traditional raft. The so-called traditioanal raft is the old mode of transport on the river for centuries. It is a leather raft, made from sheep or cattle skins soaked in oil and brine, then inflated. Several inflated leather skins are binded together for one raft driven by one worker, holding 4 passengers.
Along the 40km Yellow River from North Long Beach to Shapotou, the ancient water mills move with a creaking sound, irrigating the land tirelessly. Surrounded by mountains, rivers and deserts with undeveloped transport, people here are simple and hospitable. Date trees, pear trees and other fruit trees are dotted here and there. Villagers work on the fields at sunnrise and return home at sunset, a scene bringing you back to the ancient times.
We organize a half hour or one hour rafting on two selected itineraries on the 40km river course - 1) from North Long Beach (北长滩) to Elm Forest (榆树林), a half hour raft 2) from North Long Beach to Yellow Stone whirlpool (黄石漩), one hour raft.
Safety Notice:
You should pay attention to the safety of taking a raft, especially on a small raft.
1. Get on and off the raft slowly and steadily.
2. Once on a raft, you should sit down slowly instead of suddenly to avoid capsizing.
3. Don't stand up or play on a raft due to the wind on the river surface.
4. Don't be scared in the face of the churning river and just grasp the wooden club.
5. Wear life vest.
