Bixia Temple on Mt. Tai, Shandong
Bixia Temple, specified by the State Council as one of the Key National Taoist Temple is located at the peak of Mt. Tai, so it is the representative palace building in ancient China. Mt. Tai has a considerable high status in China. Many emperors once came here for worship in the history. Mt. Tai is considered as the place where many immortals met together, so there have been many temples were set up here.
Biaxia Temple is the memorial temple for the Goddess of Mt. Tai-the Supreme Goddess Bixia. It was built in the second year under the regime of Dazhong Xiangfu of Song Dynasty (1009 AD) With an area of 3,900 square meters, the temple includes the front and back complex with a compact layout and distinctive style. The main buildings include the Nanshen Door, the Bell-Drum Tower, the Treasure Warehouse, the Temple-Gate Hall, the Main Hall and so on. The bronze statue of Bixia Yunjun (the Goddess of Mt. Tai) was enshrished in the hall, which was made in the 18th century and well preserved up now. Every year, many disciples come to Mt. Tao to worship Bixia Yuanjun are in an endless stream as it is the god that responsible for the management of human activities.
The whole arch is solemn and magnificent. Being viewed from a distance the temple is surrounded with white clouds, making it resplendent and magnificent like the fairyland in Heaven.
