Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG)
Shanghai has two airports - Shanghai Pudong International Airport ( the newer one ) and Shanghai Hongqiao Airport ( the older one ). Shanghai Pudong International Airport is located in Pudong new zone, east of Huangpu River, about 30 kilometres from the city centre while Shanghai Hongqiao Airport is located in Puxi, west of Huangpu River, in the western suburbs of Shanghai, only 13 kilometers away from the city center of Shanghai. Shanghai Pudong Airport is the main hub for China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines ( the two merged in 2010), and an important international hub for Air China as well. Most of the international flights arrive at Shanghai Pudong Airport. Shanghai Hongqiao Airport has two international flights with "city-to-city" service to central Tokyo's Haneda Airport and central Seoul's Gimpo International Airport. So it is important to know from which airport you will depart or arrive in Shanghai. Shanghai Pudong Airport is about 40km apart from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport.
The airport has two terminals, a three-storey complex building. The departure hall is on the third floor; arrivals, maglev and airport shuttle buses and long distance bus on the second floor; the ground floor for taxi and hotel shuttle bus.

Terminal 2 at Pudong Airport
There are two terminals at Pudong Airport and the second terminal is much larger than the first one. The two terminals are connected by three walk paths (North, Central and South) with the Maglev Station in the middle. The Maglev train station and the track cuts the airport into two parts - on the east is the terminal 2, and on the west is terminal 1. As mentioned the two are connecting by the three walking paths. You have to make a decision - T2 or T1. Well. They have a table to help you figure out which terminal you should use.

The three paths (including a part of conveyor belts) connect T2 and T1. Its walking paths have many ceiling window like this, making it quite sunny!

Transportation at Pudong Airport
Shanghai Pudong Airport Shuttle Bus
Now you want to go from Shanghai Pudong Airport to your downtown hotel or from your hotel in Shanghai to Shanghai Pudong Airport, you may try to use the airport shuttle bus service. Shanghai Pudong Airport Taxi

Shanghai Airport Subway
There are 10 subway lines in operation in Shanghai. At present no direct subway line is connected to Pudong Airport. But Line 2 will be extended both to Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport in near future. If you want to take subway to Pudong Airport, you can take Line 2 and 7 and get off at the subway station called "Longyang" from which you may take maglev, taxi, or even bus to Pudong Airport. Shanghai Pudong Airport MaglevThe train starts from Longyang Rd Subway Station. On the way, speed up to 430 km/hour and arrives at Pudong Airport. It is quite an experience to take the Maglev train.
