The street is paved with dark colored stone as well as the green tree offering the heavy shade during summer. The buildings on both sides of the street are referring to the style of both Ming and Qing Dynasty. The food or instruments offered by the Huimin are provided with full-bodied Moslem feature, which are favored by the visitors especially the foreign visitors.
There is a long story about the Moslem Street. About more than 1,000 years ago, that is to say in the Han Dynasty, it was the beginning point of the Silk Road. A lot of foreign diplomatic envoys and merchants came here, lived then married, so nowadays most of the inhabitants of Moslem Street are the descendants of those immigrants. All the Moslems here are pious and devout followers of the Islam so they form a tight community, which maintain its own culture and traditions to this day even in such a modern society.
In Xi’an, it is really well worth to view and admire the street to enjoy the traditional Muslim and the Chinese Style.
